After
founding and directing an art gallery in Montreal, his home town, he
undertook formal linguistic studies which lead him for his Ph.D. to
Stanford, California, where he took up artificial intelligence and cognitive
science. He settled down in Paris in 1985 where he lead linguistics
and music development projects. Since 1991 he has been CEO and creative
director of Hyptique, a leading French studio in the field of cultural
multimedia. He has directed the majority of the approximately 100 productions
performed by Hyptique since 1994. He is currently the lead architect
in the most ambitious web museum project of the French history, for
the National Museum of Natural Science, still in the design stage. He
is the director of Les éditions hyptique.net, a publishing venture
launched in 2000 and which have won numerous awards EMMA Award,
Europrix, MIM, Diapason, Montreuil, et the Grand Prix Möbius of
France. He is president and founder of the NUMER association. He lectures
regularly on interaction design in different schools and universities,
in France and abroad.
